Weekend Fun

Note to self...don't list items on Craigslist Friday night if you plan on sleeping in Saturday morning. So on Friday we decided our extended back patio was too cluttered. Stephen gave the okay to sell the weightlifting squat rack he inherited from my dad and has had for years. He rarely used it, and I thought it was bit of an eye sore in our backyard. So I listed it on Craigslist. We also asked Madeline if we could sell her playhouse which she has outgrown. We told her she could use the money towards something else fun for the backyard. She agreed, so I listed that too. Well by Saturday morning we received about 20 emails from interested buyers, some with cash in hand, no haggling, wanted to pick up the item asap. So by Sunday morning - a nice open and clear back patio. I love Craigslist!


We had a really beautiful Sunday, the sun was shining - it felt like Spring! Our friend Jimmena offered to watch the kids so Stephen and I could go on a lunch date, it was so sweet of her. We decided to go to the Alamo Drafthouse and see Avatar! We enjoyed our time together and the movie was awesome! Definitely worth seeing. When we got home we had made plans to get together with Uncle Steve for his upcoming birthday. A few days ago we learned that Uncle Steve's youngest, Braden, had come to live with him for awhile. So it was great to see Braden. We took them out to dinner to Trudy's. Stephen loves this Mexican restaurant but we had the worst service we've ever had there. Not sure if our server was new or what. Either way the food was still yummy and we had fun. As you can see Madeline was very keen of Braden, she liked sitting next to him. Stephen has told Braden he's our new babysitter, of course when he's not working - he got a job at Olive Garden, yum!

Old Friend & Another Great Buy

This weekend one of my old childhood best friends, Erica, came over for a visit. We grew up in the same neighborhood. I remember on summer days swimming over at her house pretending to be mermaids and making wishes on wishbones her mom would save for us to pull apart. Erica moved away when we were still kids but we still kept in touch over the years, writing letters (the old fashion way) and seeing each other when she would come to visit CA. And now here we are living in the same state again! Erica drove out from Houston for business here in Austin and I'm so glad she had time to come visit us! She took our family out to a nice lunch at Chilli's and then we hung out at home and caught up on everything.

It was a great visit with an old friend!

So we scored on another Craigslist buy! So far through Craigslist we've found our kitchen dining set, our King size bed, Penny Lane, a doghouse...and now this coffee table! Our 6.5 year twenty dollar Ikea table was on it's last leg (literally) and the kids kept ripping off the kiddie corner bumper guards exposing the sticky residue...so I had a mission to find a coffee table. The guy that was selling this one had just gotten married so they were trying to get rid of duplicate furniture items. He was asking $50. Stephen went to look at it on his way home - it's in pretty good condition only having a few hairline scratches and a couple dime size spots that need to be re stained, but other than that it's a pretty solid well-built wood and glass table. Stephen offered $40 and he took it! Score! It fits perfect with our L-couch. And I love the second shelf underneath (perfect height for a foot rest) to put magazines and remotes.

Great Buys!

You got to love great buys, I know I do!

I've found a few items on Craigslist. Don't know how many of you out there have looked through these free online classifieds. Anyhow. I'm in the search of a newer computer desk and chair (I have some birthday money left over). I'm really bummed because this desk I was going to look at the other night got sold before I could even see it. But I did find a really nice leather office chair. Got it for $30! (Stephen went inside the owners place and picked it up for me, I told him to haggle and try and get it for $25, but he didn't). Anyway in the video below you will see my new chair - and you will see how much the kids really like it too!

I'll throw in one more video of Mr. James. He's finally starting to repeat words that I say. I was talking on the phone to my parents and put him on and told him to say "Hi Opa!" and HE DID! Of course I didn't get that on video, but my parents can affirm it. I did however try to video and get him to say it again. He was getting a bit snippy with me, but at the end of this video you can finally hear him say Opa. :-)
