I wish this time didn't come so soon...

Photobucket
I heard from my parents today that my Oma has fell really ill and it may only be days before her body shuts down completely. She has begun to go in and out of consciousness, mostly keeping her eyes closed now and being non responsive. She no longer wants to drink or eat. And it appears that her organs are shutting down and she isn't urinating anymore. Hospice care gave my parents an information packet that explains what the body can do before dying, and all of these symptoms are mentioned. It's her wish that she be not kept on any sort of life support, so all that matter now is that she is as comfortable as possible. The priest that has been visiting her just came a day or so ago, it's comforting to know he has annointed her.
James 5:14-15 "Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him."

I'm heartbroken. We made the trip to CA in December to visit Oma because she fell ill in past months. Truthfully, I wished that would not be the last time I would see her. Unfortunately I think it was. This has been a tough month in our family, without my faith and comfort from our Lord I honestly don't know how I would have made it through.

Please join me in this prayer for my Oma...
Almighty and Everlasting God, preserver of souls, who dost correct those whom Thou dost love, and for their betterment dost tenderly chastise those whom Thou dost receive, we call upon Thee, O Lord, to grant Thy healing, that the soul of Thy servant Ernestine Nix, at the hour of its departure from the body, may by the hands of Thy holy Angels be presented without spot unto Thee. Amen.

Edit** Oma just passed away 25 minutes ago at 12:10pm Pacific time. My Mom, Dad and Tante Friedl were with her when she took her last breath. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Love, Melissa

I am so sorry to hear about your Oma's...it is always hard to loose someone that we love so much. However, it is comforting to know that she will be with our Lord in Heaven and be in perfect health again. I am praying for your Oma and all of your family members.

Dear family;
For us it's like Monday nite football, because of our recent loss of Tante Pop. We are with you in your sorrows, but what is awaiting her is the welcoming choir from those who preceded her.

Melissa,
Soo sorry to hear that. You do know, however, that she is jumping up and down and is actually being with our Lord. What a life she has led, I'm sure.

Sorry to hear that. I know my grandparents are getting sicker as they get older and I afraid it won't be long until I experience their deaths. Never had anyone close to me die before. Can only imagine. Our prayers are with you.

Oh Melissa, I cried. Your Oma was one of those older women like my Nana was. She was the glue that stuck the family together. Old and wise and always a joy to be around. I will always remember her as a wonderful woman who was so full of life. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family. She is truly in a better place.

Melissa,

God bless Oma and your family! What a blessing it was for her to have the people she loved around her during her last living moments. Even though how you said goodbye to her is not how you ideally wanted it, be proud that you are a fabulous granddaughter, and that you did the best you could for her.

I will put Oma on my prayer list. And I will also pray for you and the family, that God further comforts you in your loss. It's a painful thing...only He knows the real pain in your heart to make it feel better.

Love,
Justine
