Where did my baby go?

This weekend while Stephen's parents and brothers were visiting, mom and I took the kids to the mall to have James' 4 year old portraits taken. Last year it was nearly a disaster trying to get him to pose for a portrait, he was crying and not wanting to do it and I think we only got 1 or 2 descent shots. Well this year he did awesome! He was a little shy at first, but then the photographer and Madeline started making him giggle by making "farting" sounds...James thought it was "disgusting!" (as he likes to say) and was laughing the whole time. But really after looking at these, I thought to myself..."where did my baby go?". I can't believe he already turns 4 the end of this month. He's doing great, his vocabulary is exploding, he loves to play with his hot wheel cars and super hero figures from McDonald's - he plays pretend with them and has them "talk", it's really cute to watch. He loves to ride his big wheel, but I think we'll be getting him a big boy bike for his birthday. He's still my snuggle bug! It's funny because having a boy and a girl...Madeline is totally a Daddy's Girl and James is totally a Mama's Boy - but we love it. Anyway, I thought the ohana and friends would enjoy seeing these portraits, I posted the rest of them on Facebook here and in that album is some older portraits of him. Now time to plan his party!

James' 3 Year Portraits
Yesterday I took the day off from work to stay home with James in the morning because Stephen had mandatory training at work. So while Madeline was at school I finally took James to the Picture People at the mall to receive his FREE birthday portrait. I love the email coupons I get from the Picture People, everytime I go to them and use them I get a FREE portrait - and there's no sitting fee! Anyhow I think Madeline has way more portraits taken of her than James - she was my easy model baby/toddler. James on the other hand puts up quite the battle when we go have his picture taken. I thought this photo session was going to be another lost battle when it started with him crying and refusing to have his picture taken. But thankfully the photographer was super patient, and after playing with some toys on the photo shoot set he finally warmed up to the camera and gave some great smiles!
This was the FREE 8x10 I picked.

And I bought this portrait (a close up cropped version). My coupon gave me 20% off their normal $18 portrait sheets. The nice thing is they print your portraits for you right after the session! We're going back there soon with the whole Ohana including Penny Lane to have a new family portrait taken.
