Snow and Cake

Our poor kids, they don't get to experience snow and the beach often like we did growing up in So Cal. We had the mountains close enough to go sledding each winter, and the beach only a few miles from our home. Well when they are older they will understand the compromises we made and why we moved to central Texas. So for them playing in the snow or on the beach is a BIG deal, they love it! So when I heard that our home builder, KBHome, was having a grand opening of their home models in a neighborhood near by and kicking it off by having a "snow day"...I knew we had to bring the kids by there and check it out. It was a nice 60 degree sunny day, but they came through with their promise - there was snow! They even had hot chocolate and cookies. I checked out the beautiful model home while Stephen and the kids ran around throwing snowballs at each other.

The kids tried to make snow angels but the snow was pretty packed.

Madeline did make 2 mini snowmen. She was pretty disgusted that soon after she made them, some other boys playing in the snow knocked them down.

James excited he nailed daddy with a snowball!

Later that day our next door neighbors were celebrating their daughter's 3rd birthday. They had a jumpy house, bbq'd hot dogs and the adults played Washers. It was a fun time and we stayed all afternoon.

Here is Madeline with the birthday girl, Cheyenne. She's super sweet.

So James was pretty stoked he got to play in the snow and have cake in the same day - if we made a trip to the beach, it would've been a perfect day.
