Surprised & Thankful

Did you know Oprah's last show aired today? For 25 years she did this show. I used to watch Oprah faithfully, I used to have my DVR set to record it daily. But a few years back I began to get turned off by her promotion of New Age beliefs. Although turned off, I always admired Oprah for her charity and generosity especially to those in need. I also always felt that she gave great non-judgmental interviews and brought to the public topics that needed awareness. But I stopped watching.

I saw on Facebook this morning that today her finale would be aired. But when I got home I forgot to set the DVR to record it. I happened to be flipping through channels and was able to catch the last half hour of the finale. I was really surprised on how much she touched on God (and not any mention of New Age beliefs), but so very thankful she brought Him up here on her last show to millions of viewers. Praying and hoping it gets many thinking about our Creator. Her last words were, "To God be the glory." I'm so glad she recognizes this and shared it to the world.

Here are some quotes from the show that she made on God:

"My team and Jesus" (on how her show lasted 25 years)

"Because nothing but the hand of God, has made this possible for me."

"For all of you that get riled up when I mention God, and want to know which God I am talking about, I'm talking about the same one you're talking about, I'm talking about the alpha and the omega (Revelation 1:8), the omniscient, the omnipresent, the ultimate consciousness, the source, the force, the all of everything there is,  the one and only G O D... that's the one I am talking about."

"I know that presence, that flow; some people call it Grace, is working in my life and in every single turn."

"I've felt the presence of God my whole life, even when I didn't have a name for it I could feel the voice bigger than myself speaking to me and all of us have that same voice."

"I'm still. I wait and listen for the guidance that's greater than my meager mind."

"God is Love, and God is Life and your Life is always speaking to you."

"To God be the Glory."

I guess depending on which Christian or non-Christian faith you come from you can take her quotes from different angles and to mean different things. But bottom line is she let millions of people think about this God she is showing gratitude to. I hope she inspired many non-believers to take a second look at why they disbelieve in a Creator.

She has kinda bugged me the past few years too, for various reasons, but I did enjoy the show today. I think she proved she was very grateful for everything.
It was a good ending.

A few years back I stopped watching her as well for many of the same reasons, unless she has someone on that I wanted to see interviewed (like George W. Bush, and few others). I am surprised at these words from her, but happy that she gave credit where credit is due!

I'll have to find that last episode. I was turned off by the New Age stuff too. All in all, no one can deny that she has inspired lots of women and changed lives dramatically..God bless this woman!!

Thanks for sharing that. I myself used to watch until about 3 years ago when I saw my last episode...a special guest had everyone making their vaginas smile with energy. At that point I was done. But, there were alot of great shows I did enjoy before.
