On Stephen's 1 day off this week, we took the kids to the city pool to cool off in this 104 degree weather we've been having! We're excited we will have a pool in our new neighborhood to go to. Anyhow to our surprise Madeline finally put her entire head under water and swam! Last summer she did not pass her swimming course because she refused to put her head under water. I'm not sure how Stephen convinced her to do it, but she did! She went under the swimming lane ropes 5 or 6 times back and fourth. She was super proud that she finally did it. Hopefully soon we'll get her to swim without her life vest.
James really enjoyed the pool too. But here he is taking a break and eating some Doritos.
The city pool is really nice and clean. There were quite a few kids there that day. You can see Madeline and Stephen in the center of the photo.
Madeline decided to join James for a Doritos break.
I can never snap the camera fast enough to catch James saying "cheese!" real quickly. Little stinker bug.
So I saw in this past weekend's Target ads that they were having back to school sales. So I took Madeline to pick out her first school backpack for when she starts Kindergarten on August 24th. She had a hard time deciding. There were so many she liked...Disney Princesses, Hannah Montana, H.S. Musical, Hello Kitty, Tinkerbell...she ended up picking this cute Ni Hao, Kai-lan. Her and James love this cartoon. I can't believe our baby girl is starting school!

Kindergarten! I can't believe it either. Wow. Good choice in backpack, all though I have no idea what TV show that is she looks very excited to have it. :) Oh and swimming sounds fun... I need to get back in the pool but as you well know swimming with a 5 week old isnt the funnest thing.
So exciting...first backpack!!!
Twelve more years she'll be saying "I do". OK Steve - Maybe not. Great looking pool.
