What we've been up to...

So this is pretty much what the inside of our house looks like! Packing is coming along. We saved some boxes from our move from Oregon, but we still had to buy a few boxes from Home Depot too. I've packed most of my fine China and glass fragiles. My cousin Whitney's family is visiting and they've been helping us pack too. They even took down our big trampoline, which I am so thankful for. We're supposed to have our buyer's orientation and walk-thru next week, then the week after we close and get the keys! We found out through Stephen's work that they have a Hertz Equipment Rental division. So we'll be able to get a truck and moving trailer through them. Can't wait until we're moved into our new home!

On Sunday we took a break from packing and Whitney, Pamela & Ariel took our family tubing on the Comal River in New Braunfels. This river is a bit longer than the San Marcos one we did last month, and it has 3 rapid falls. Above is a pic of the first one, there's a dam so they built this tube chute. Madeline was very scared siting in her raft boat anticipating going down it. My tube was tied to her raft and James sat on my lap. This chute was actually pretty fun to go down. The kids were smiling after. It was the next falls that didn't leave them smiling. The next one was a small fall 2-3' drop, didn't look bad at all and people were going down it. Well we missed the sign that said "Tubers keep left" cause there was a small slide to the left. We went down the middle and over the small fall. First Whitney, Pamela and Ariel went down and they got bounced off their tubes, so I was preparing for the worst not having any time to stop the kids and I from going over. Next thing I know I see Madeline's raft flip to the side and she falls in. Then James and I flipped and went completely under water. Both kids had their life vests on and I knew Madeline would be okay but I was concerned about pushing James up to the surface and keeping his head up to breathe. With some help from everyone the kids came up screaming and crying. Poor Madeline was terrorized...but James wasn't upset about going under water he was upset because he let go of his plastic seahorse toy! He kept crying, "my horse! my horse!", luckily a boy down the river caught it and brought it to us. We had to apologize to Madeline and convince her the rest of the way floating down the river would be fun. She warmed up to it again. I didn't bring my camera this time but Pamela had their water proof camera so I'll have to get pics from them. We'll definitely tube the Comal again, now we know better for which routes to float. :)
