Learning to skate...sort of

So Nana promised Madeline a pair of skates and gave her some money to get a pair back in February when we were in California. All the Walmarts and Targets near us did not carry any. I ordered some online but they were on back order. So yesterday while we were in San Antonio for lunch we stopped next door at an Academy Sports store. They had some traditional roller skates! Stephen started looking at the Heelys, those shoes with wheels on their soles. He suggested getting her those instead. Being that Madeline isn't very coordinated, the clunky traditional roller skates were hard for her to handle. So Madeline got a pair of Heelys, not the name brand one but the generic ones. We even got her some sparkly pink shoelaces to put on them.

She's been practicing in the kitchen. Daddy twirls her around and she laughs and giggles. But she's still apprehensive to 'skate' with them outside, she's fearful of falling. So I'm sure she'll keep practicing in the kitchen with them. Stephen calls them her Frankenstein shoes. :) So thank you Nana and Poppi, Madeline is super excited about her new 'skates'!

I caught these cute pics the other night. While the kids bathe, Penny likes to watch - sometimes too close!

Giving Madeline a kiss (yuck! Good thing she's in the bath) and licking her bubbles on her face.

James showing Penny his wash cloth. :)

Now isn't that the sweetest puppy face you ever saw?

I asked James if he would take a picture with momma, he hopped on my lap and said, "cheeeessseee!". I love this photo with my handsome son.

So for my birthday last month I received some birthday money and a Kohl's gift card. I finally headed to Kohl's this evening (a brand new store just opened a mile from our house) they were having great sales along with a scratch'n'save bonus percentage off. So I picked up this pretty turquoise blouse for work, 2 pairs of leggings, 5 underwear briefs and a pair of Nike running shoes. I received an additional 30% off, and after using my birthday money and gift card I spent $15. Stoked! I got a pair of running shoes, because I plan to take up running. With my best friend now engaged and getting married soon - I really would like to drop some weight, 20lbs. is my first goal. I really don't want to 'diet' and give up food, so I'm hoping that by upping my exercise and taking up running that will help me shed some pounds. My plan is to go walking/running 5 days a week with Penny Lane. I'll either wake up earlier and go before work. Or go in the afternoons before Stephen leaves for work. Wish me luck!

I LOVE Kohl's! We have one just down the street from us as well, I find myself there often, especially in the clearance area for home decorations. I scored on a sign for the boys room, it was on Clearance for $1.99! Anyways, good luck with the exercise, I hate doing stuff like that! My best exercise is going on a walk with the boys and pushing the stroller that weighs about 80 pounds! Can't do that anymore right now though, bummer, I feel like I am just packing on the pounds!
