100th Day & Performance Day

Yesterday was the 100th day of school. So Madeline's teacher had them celebrate being "100 days smarter". Madeline came off of the school bus looking like this! She had a big celebration hat and 100 fruit loops around her neck. She said it was the best school day...EVER!

Last night was also Madeline's big performance at the Varisty High School Boys Basketball Game. She and all the other little girls had been practicing so hard all week...lets see if it paid off...

They did awesome! If I do say so myself.

Madeline after the performance. She said she wasn't even nervous. She had a fun experience at dance camp. We'll be sure to do it again next year. Afterwards we went out for a late family dinner to T.G.I. Fridays. We had a yummy meal ended with their Brownie Obcession: A warm brownie covered in Ghirardelli® chocolate–fudge sauce, vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce and pecans. YUMMY! On our drive home Madeline said to us, "this was the best day...EVER!".

Dance Clinic Day 3

Well after only two one hour practices look what Madeline and the rest of the Jr. Highsteppers have learned!...

Madeline is front and center wearing a gray long sleeve shirt and leggings, with black tennis shoes. She's holding a gold hoop. And she's the last "hoop girl" to exit the stage. :) The girls with hoops are kindergarten and first grade. The pom pom girls are second and third grade. And the ribbon girls are fourth and fifth grade. Again they learned this routine in only 2 practices! The big halftime performance is tomorrow evening after a final practice!

This is the finale they learned tonight. Madeline is in the second row near the center. Can't wait to see them in matching shirts and performing at the game!

For a small fee

Madeline came home with a flyer from school last week. The local high school dance team was holding a 4 day dance clinic for little girls grades K-5 to raise money. The cost is $30 and it includes dance training for 3 days, a dance t-shirt, snacks at each training, and a Friday night performance at the half time of the boys varsity basketball game. So since Madeline likes to dance, I signed her up! Today was day 1 and they moved right into teaching the girls a High School Musical dance routine, the one they will be performing at the halftime show! Madeline is center in the above photo wearing a long sleeve purple shirt, blue jeans and white tennies holding a gold hoop.

James enjoyed sitting in the basketball gym watching the girls practice.

Madeline was put into the group with Kindergartners and 1st graders.

James going in for a closer look. :)

The girls were taught this routine in 40 minutes, then they had to perform it in front of the Dance Director.
I believe Madeline is in the back row 4th one in from the left holding the gold hoop. So they've got 2 more days of practicing for the big half time show on Friday night!
Another great deal we got this week was our FREE photo collage calendar from Shutterfly. I received an email coupon code for a free 12 month calendar, all I had to do was pay for the shipping and taxes which cost about $6. It took me a few hours to put together photos, monthly quotes, birth and anniversary dates on the calendar - but I'm very pleased with the outcome, it was worth the time!

The pages are on nice, thick, matte card stock. And the color is really vibrant. I'll certainly make another next year if I get another coupon for it!
