When we got married, my wedding gift to Stephen was a recliner chair from Costco. I bought it for him while he was away on his bachelor houseboat weekend and put it in our new apartment to surprise him. He loved this recliner, a.k.a. his "man chair". And it has gotten great use over the past 8 years. Stephen spent many nights falling asleep on it, I used it as my temporary bed during my pregnancies when heartburn was so bad I had to sleep sitting up, hours of rocking Madeline and James to sleep, a comfortable spot for guests to sit in often 2 at a time (it was an extra wide recliner and could seat two!). But it shows it's years of use with the upholstery tearing. I've covered it several times with material. But it was time to replace it. So when we got this new sofa couch set, we also got the over-sized chair and ottoman. We love it! And it's even wider than the "man chair" so I guess we'll call it the "two-man chair". I predict Stephen will fall asleep on this one too!

Merry Christmas Babe
Any of you shop early Black Friday this weekend? It's nice a lot of the retail stores realize that some of us don't want to get up at 3am the day after Thanksgiving in order to get a good deal on what they're selling. Last year I signed up on a Black Friday info site and this year I started getting early ads about all these stores having early Black Friday weekend sales. The furniture ones caught my eye. Our family room couch is now 8 1/2 years old and has moved from California to Oregon to Texas and to a second home here in Texas. It's a great L-couch. And we've always received many great compliments on how comfy it is (many of our guests often fall asleep on it - it's either really comfy or we're boring). It has a few war story wounds, a tare on one of the armrests. Some burn marks on the cushions from our laptop charger - whoops. I did my best through the years to wash the cushion covers and steam clean the armrests. We also have Stephen's "man chair". His faux leather recliner. We also got lots of compliments on this. It's extra wide, so 2 people could sit in it. But it also now has several tares. These 2 items were our first big purchases when we got married. So they're sentimental. But we really would like to get some new family room couches. So we went out window shopping this weekend...and ended up buying!
We both really liked this couch set as soon as we saw it at the store. I think it was the only set we both liked. We loved the corduroy material and the chocolate brown color. We loved the modern style with the squared armrests and leather detail piping on the cushions. But most importantly it was really comfy! We went back a second day to look at it when we found out they were discontinuing the chocolate brown color and only offering it in the coffee taupe color. They also only had the sofa couch and over sized chair left in stock, and the only love seat left was their floor sample. Which they were giving a clearance price including 2 ottomans.
So we decided to jump on it and purchase the entire set. So this will be Stephen's new "man chair". It's extra wide like his current recliner and it will have a nice ottoman to rest your feet on. We saved about $300 on the entire set (sofa, love seat, over-sized chair and 2 ottomans) and were able to finance it interest free until 2013. I told Stephen, "Merry Christmas Babe!" cause it doesn't look like we'll be getting each other gifts this year now that we made this purchase. But we're super excited! It will be delivered next week!
