So we are back from our grand vacation! I'm a bit exhausted and have a gazillion photos (okay more like 400-500) to go through and edit. So I thought I would post about our vacation day by day. Day 1, we had to drive from Austin to Dallas to catch an early morning flight to Florida. That meant leaving in the middle of the night to make the 3 hour drive. Stephen got us there safely with plenty of time to get through the airport. Whenever my mom lists us for standby tickets, she lists us for First Class because it costs the exact same (nice perk!). Unfortunately many full paying passengers often upgrade and there aren't any seats available, but we lucked out this vacation! On our way to Florida Madeline and Stephen were able to sit in First Class. They enjoyed their drinks and breakfast, that's for sure!
James and I sat comfortably in coach, and paid for some breakfast items. All that matters is that we arrived safely in Florida. Kids did great on the plane. James watched a movie while I napped. Stephen didn't get to nap because his side kick was a bit chatty. ;)
We wanted to fly into Jacksonville to visit my childhood friend. It's only 2.5 hours from Orlando. When we arrived Erica asked if we wanted to go out to eat Tacos and go to the beach, um this Mexican food loving, kids don't get enough beach time family was up for that!
James LOVES the water. We had to call him in so many times because he wanted to go out so far to play in the waves! He loved every minute of it!
I love catching up with old friends. Erica was such a wonderful host, and it was great spending time with her family in their new hometown.
Madeline and Erica's son, Everett collecting seashells.
After the beach we headed back to Erica's home. They have such a beautiful, spacious home with a lovely enclosed pool in their backyard. The kids were in heaven!!!
We spent the rest of the afternoon swimming.
My only regret is that we spent just one night with her family.
Next time we will have to plan to visit longer!
Stay tuned for Day 2 Vacation post...
