Busy Week

It's been a busy week for the Spence's. I work on Mondays and Tuesdays, so when we have a busy week ahead...I'm usually exhausted by Wednesday. :) Lent began this week, so that means pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. :)

I didn't have time to take the kids to pick out their own Valentine's cards so I improvised and found some printables online. The kids loved them!

It's crazy that 6 months ago James barely knew how to write his name and couldn't recognize all the letters in the alphabet. Now he's writing the names of all his classmates on his Valentine's. So proud of him.

Yesterday was Ash Wednesday. I've started a Lent board on my Pinterest to find some meat-less recipes to try this Lent. Made this one last night, super easy Shrimp Scampi! At first the kids turned their noses up to it - but once they tried it, they loved it! Even wanted seconds. Definitely will make this one again. I served it with some garlic bread and salad.

Our deacon gave the homily last night and I loved that he said with these cross ashes on our foreheads "we wear the sign of our salvation!" So true.

It's Valentines today! The kids were excited to go to school and pass out their Valentines at their class parties. Can't wait to hear how it goes. Found these old (17 years) pics of the first Valentines Stephen and I celebrated together in 1996. So young! We won't be doing anything too special tonight, just cooking tacos for my family and Madeline's classmate is coming over to work on their special class project together.

Happy Valentines Y'all!

WHat a terrific family photo. And I love the one of you two in 1996. I definitely will check out your Pinterest board.

Making salmon tomorrow night...

I love that you printed your own Valentine's for the kids. I had the idea to do that after we went and picked some out, so maybe next year! I definitely want to try that Shrimp Dcampi recipe, it looks SO good!
