Thanksgiving

Despite the fact that we were miles away from most of our family, and that Stephen had to work all day - we still had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner and much to be thankful for. Uncle Steve graciously offered to treat our family out to dinner, so sweet! His friend was visiting from Iowa, she's super nice. We met them at the Golden Corral. Our first time eating there. Oh my gosh they had SO much food to choose from, it was a feast! And the turkey, mashed potatoes & gravy, the sweet potato casserole....mmmmmmm. And then the assortment of desserts. Uncle Steve wanted to go to this new location because they had the chocolate drip fountain and he thought the kids would love it. He was right. I'm not sure how many plates they got of chocolate dipped food. The kids can't wait to go back there!
Thanks again Uncle Steve!

In my previous post I mention how Madeline and I are working on scarves over Thanksgiving break. I finished sewing one of them, I really like how it turned out. I'm going to sew another for Madeline.

So Madeline learned how to make a simple chain stitch. She crocheted 2 yards in length of a chain stitch. It was when she had to connect the 2nd row that it became difficult. She got really discouraged. So I've been helping her with the rest of the rows. I'm also working on a scarf for James. We're probably half way done with both scarves. Man are my finger muscles sore this week! :)

So how many of you went shopping today!? I've been browsing the ads the last few weeks and wanted to pick up some toys, clothes and kitchen items. So I woke up early and left the house at 6am this morning. Surprisingly it wasn't too crowded, I think all the crazies went out at midnight. I hit up all these stores, probably spent about $100 today and got A LOT of stuff. So I'm pretty pleased. We spent the rest of today getting our Christmas boxes out of the attic and hanging Christmas lights on the house. Looking forward to the last 2 days of this weekend.

I love the scarves! So cute.
I actually did some shopping this afternoon and it wasn't too bad either. Glad you were able to get some good deals.

Ah Thanks for keeping Steve and his friend company while all his children are far away. Sounds like a feast there!

CUTTTTE Scarfs too. I may have to check that out on your pinterest and see how to sew one. It's easy to become discouraged while sewing and crocheting so I totally get where Madeline is coming from that is nice of you to help her finish.

I didn't see anything super awesome beside a few little things that I wanted this year so I didn't bother going out shopping this morning. Tomorrow I am hitting up Costco though for some last minute things for the kids before we leave them for the week. I am so nervous about it!!

Hope you have a good weekend!

We didn't do the 12 am thing either. We packed the kids up at 8am and headed out the door. I think the only thing that I didn't get were the video games, but then I kind of knew that would happen.

It looks like a great thanksgiving!
