She did it!

Today Stephen promised to take Madeline to the park to start teaching her how to ride her bike without training wheels. So off the wheels went, and a new Paul Frank helmet on her head - she was ready to learn.

She was afraid to fall on the cement. So Stephen started her off on the grass.

And literally after the 3rd try, he let go and SHE DID IT!!!! She practiced a few more times on the grass and was ready to try on the basketball court.

So proud of her! We still have to work on starting and stopping. But I was so surprised that she got the riding part so quickly!

I challenged her to do 10 laps around the court and she did. She took a break to go play on the playground, but after she wanted to get right back on her bike and practice some more. I have to admit, I did get emotional watching Stephen teach her, and seeing her ride her bike on her own - more emotional then when she started school. Happy tears of joy - my baby girl is growing up!

James is doing great on his new bike. He loves to ride it, go down hills, use his "muscles" to go uphill...he's confident on his bike. It makes me happy he likes his bike. Looks like we'll be doing a lot of bike riding in the culdesac and at the park this Fall!

Congrats to Maddy. Armilyn got emotional when Alex rode without training wheels too. I had to chase after Alex while Armilyn had to compose herself. We got Maddy a gift for being a super bike rider. We'll send it on Monday.

That is awesome Madeline! You are a ton better then I am! (The last time I rode a bike I was 24 and I ran into a mailbox. You are miles ahead of me!)

Way to go Maddy! What an amazing accomplishment. I still remember the day my cousin helped me learn to ride without the training wheels. It feels so good!! So happy for her.
