Look What I Made!

Want to make one too!?

I recently came upon this fabulous blogspot, Make It and Love It, via Kelly Spence's blog. Ashley, the creative blogger posts her projects and gives a step by step tutorial on how to make it. I came upon this light switch project she did and thought what a cute idea for the kids rooms! I went to JoAnn's Fabric store and grabbed my supplies: Mod Podge matte finish ($3.99 - will last forever), 2 patterned fabrics with coordinating ribbon (1/8 yard of fabric 70 cents each, 1/4 yard of ribbon 25 cents each), and some cute buttons ($1.50 each) and some fabric letters (79 cents each). And I received 20% off the prices from a coupon I printed off the Internet! Step one is to cut the fabric pieces big enough to cover the front of your light switch plate as well as wrap around the edges. Next slit a hole where the light switch would go and make additional slits, angling out towards each corner of the opening. Apply a coat of Mod Podge to the front of the cover. Lay the fabric over the top, making sure to center the hole over the light switch opening. Fold the fabric over the back side of the plate and apply Mod Podge all over the fabric back and front. Let it dry completely (I used a hair dryer to speed up the process).
Finally glue on your ribbon, buttons and fabric letters (I used regular glue, or you could use a hot glue gun). Be sure not to cover the spot where the screw will need to go back in. And that's it, you're done!

Adorable! What a great idea. Maybe I can convince Mickie to make them with me. I need one for Sierra's room still.
