I know I've been posting about this on Facebook but haven't blogged about it. Since Christmas James has had a mild cold, more so sniffles. Hasn't really stopped him from being his normal, happy, silly self until this past Sunday. I could tell he was feeling sluggish, lots of sinus mucous, and then his eyes started to produce constant mucous. He had a terrible night sleeping on Sunday so I brought him to the pediatrician on Monday morning. She diagnosed him with a sinus and eye infection and put him on the antibiotic Cefdinir. I told her both kids were allergic to Penicillin but she said although Cefdinir shares a particular structure in it's chemical makeup to Penicillin that he should be okay and it'll take care of both infections without having to give him eye drops. The increased risk of allergic reactions in penicillin-allergic patients is only 0.4%. Well last night it was determined James fell under that small percentage! He broke out in hives on his back, chest, arms, neck and face. Poor guy just can't catch a break. So the pediatrician wants to see him again today to document his allergic reaction. Not sure if she'll put him on a new antibiotic. Although his mucous is less he still has it after4 days on the Cefdinir. You see his long eyelashes in the above photo, picture them covered with gunky, crusty mucous. Ugh it's been a pain to clean them. I'm sure James would be happy not to see another cotton ball anytime soon! So praying our Jimmy-James gets well real soon! It's been a tough week!
