Our Lil Whistler

Penny Lane is growing too fast! She already weighs twice as much as when we got her 2 months ago. And according to the growth chart for her breed, she'll double her weight now when she becomes full grown (approx. 50lbs.). I told Stephen I miss her puppy size. It's like when you have a baby and miss them being that small - only with dogs it progresses much faster! I'm happy to say Penny is now house trained, she "paws" the back door when she needs to go outside. Also while my parents were here, my Dad installed a Lixit on our backyard water faucet, he had to add an extension because it was located to high on our wall. (Penny takes after her Basset Hound mom and is shorter in stature.) Anyhow, she trained to use that on the first day! It's awesome, no more water bowl to fill! Penny also plays fetch real well, she's a fast runner and most of the time brings the ball or toy back to you to throw again. Penny also comes when called by Stephen's certain whistle (rarely does she come to me when I try to whistle - only to Stephen's). Anyhow, Stephen's whistle has prompted Madeline to learn how to whistle.
She practiced and practiced and practiced, and then one day a couple weeks ago...she got it! It's really funny because now she whistles ALL the time! She whistles when she walks (she'd make her Poppi proud :) She whistles when she's drawing. She whistles when she's watching TV. She whistles in the car. She whistles when she's playing with Penny Lane. She's our lil whistler! It's quite funny, but I've found myself saying occasionally, "Madeline ssshhh, stop whistling." LOL I asked Madeline if she would show off her new talent, see the video below. So how old were you when you learned how to whistle?

Oh my gosh...I remember when my friend taught me how to roll my R's when I was 9 and I couldn't shut up for weeks. It's proved to be useful in Spanish!

I think I learned to whistle around 6 or so. Go Madeline that's great! I don't think many of my siblings ever learned. 50 pounds seems like a big dog, although I have never had a dog so I dont know...Good for Penny Lane to be trained so quickly and easily!
