It's been awhile since we've experienced an "awesome dining out night". You have to understand, having little ones can make a restaurant experience less than enjoyable or even stressful on occasion. For the most part Madeline and James can behave well when we are out but they have their moments of being loud, or whiny, or disobedient. But tonight, was a very enjoyable night at Joe's Crab Shack on the Austin Lady Bird Lake! :)
We decided to sit outside, which I was a little hesitant of because last time we sat out on a patio James kept wanting to get up out of his seat and "go play" and walk around.
But this time was different, the view of the lake, the birds in the trees, the boaters on the water kept James' attention and he happily sat at our table checking everything out!
And hamming it up for the camera...
Making mama smile...
And Dada make funny faces! :)
James and Daddy horse around before the food arrives.
Daddy giving James a knuckle sandwich showing who's boss.
Food arrives! Stephen ready to crack into his snow crab. The food was yummy. I had crab stuffed mushrooms. And the kids meals (Madeline had pizza & corn on the cob, James had mac'n'cheese & fries) ended up only being $2 each instead of the $4.49 stated on the menu! We were all definitely satisfied.
This is the view from our table, not sure what type of birds these are. But they come out every Spring here in central Texas. And make loud bird noises. Madeline was attracting them near our table by feeding them James' left over fries.
These fries not only attracted the birds, but another curious and hungry creature! Madeline starts yelling with excitement as she sees a raccoon 6ft below our patio! I couldn't believe it, I thought these animals only come out at night?
Nope, sure enough there was the little creature. And he/she didn't seem too scared by us. Just interested in finding all those french fries dropped. :) After he/she went back into the bushes and trees near the water.
It definitely was a 2 Thumbs Up, 4 Stars kinda night. :)

Good family memories :) Looks like a fun place to dine. I dont think I have ever seen a racoon that close before, smaller then I thought it would be...
How funny, we went the Joe's Crab Shack with Armilyn's parents this past Sunday. It was cold on the patio, but this location had a playground outside which Alex hung out at the whole time we were there.
too fun!!!
