He loves his Patat Friet...

Patat Friet (Dutch) = French Fries!

Just wanted to post a "James Update". I finally got around to scheduling a well check up for James. His last one was in February 2008, so he was overdue to be seen. Recently I emailed a friend, Amanda, whom is a Speech Pathologist and works with children James' age. I've been concerned that James is behind in his speech. She gave me some great advice as well as evaluated James as much as she could via what I told her about him through my emails. Anyhow I'm glad to say that his pediatrician thinks he's close to average on his speech and communication. He's a little behind on stringing words together into sentences. But she told me to give him a couple more months and if he doesn't seem to improve in his speech, to call her to set up a speech evaluation. She thinks if it came down to that he would probably only require a "kick start" speech program but most likely he will blossom in his speech over the next few months.

James saying, "Mo (more) fries!" :)

James is now 36" (3 feet wow!) tall and 27 1/4 lbs. He's following his growth curve perfectly for his height, and she was super pleased with his weight. As a baby James was always skinny and never even made it onto the percentile charts...now at his weight he is in the 25th percentile group! He was very grouchy for the nurse and pediatrician. Didn't want them touching him or checking him out. When I held him still so she could check his ears he yelled, "I stuck!". LOL And when we left the nurse showed him the sticker drawer, his response "No! Go out! Fries!".

James has become real familiar with the "Golden Arches" he recognizes them anywhere and knows he can get french fries there. Every Wednesday night while Madeline is at CCD class at church, I take James to Walmart and I let him get some french fries. He LOVES them, but then what kid doesn't? I mean look at his expression below...

And he'll even tell me, "No mine." if I try to steal one!

Real quick Penny update. Stephen wanted a designated mat/rug/bed that we could command Penny Lane to "lay down" on while she's inside the house. We're rather frugal with buying pet accessories so I was so happy to find this "pet couch" for Penny Lane at Costco. It's made by their name brand Kirkland and only cost $19.99. I checked out pet pillows this size at Walmart and Petsmart and they were all in the $40-50 range. So I thought this was a real good buy. Plus it has Costco's lifetime warranty, can't beat that!

Cute pictures of James. He and Tanner are close in size. Tanner is 36 inches too and about 30 lbs. I guess 3 lbs difference in toddlers is actually a big difference huh? But eating those fries, he'll catch up quick. :) Tanner loves fries.

Penny Lane will be looking for a bigger couch pretty soon. Love James' dimples.
