LBJ Library & Museum

Talking with our neighbors yesterday who were picking their son up from basketball camp at Texas A&M, they mentioned they might visit George Bush's library on their way home...but were unsure as there was an admission fee opposed to the free admission to the LBJ Library here in Austin.
So that sparked an idea of something to do this afternoon!

"It is all here: the story of our time with the bark off.” - Lyndon Baines Johnson

They had so many neat exhibits! I wanted to take more photos but was unsure if it was allowed. Later when I went to the 4th floor I saw a sign saying "no flash photography". Isn't the above staircase beautiful? All of those red books are just 2 levels of the 45 million pages of manuscripts, an extensive audiovisual collection, and oral history interviews with more than 1,000 individuals.

I hope that visitors who come here will achieve a closer understanding of the Presidency and that young people will get a clearer comprehension of what this nation tried to do in an eventful period of its history. - LBJ

Madeline thought this robotic talking LBJ was so neat! We'll definitely have to take future visitors that come stay with us here, it was so interesting, plus it's free! We also found out that later in August a Texas-size party in honor of LBJ's 100th birthday will be held there at the library- Rudy's Bar-B-Q, Amy's ice cream, live music, and family-friendly activities. Enjoy the Library's new exhibit on space. All free, open to the public. We'll definitely try to attend that!
